Morton College's Valle signs with NAIA baseball power Sterling
Morton College’s Jadiel Valle, a Second Team all-Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference baseball selection as a freshman, is joining an NAIA powerhouse at Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas.
Sterling, which qualified for the Avista-NAIA Baseball World Series and compiled a 52-16 mark, is ranked 23rd in the latest NAIA poll under first-year coach Jacob White. As of April 10th, the Warriors are 26-10 overall and 12-5 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference, which features three of the NAIA’s top 25 teams.
Valle, a corner infielder, is hitting .407 this season. He becomes the seventh Panther player on this year’s team headed to a four-year institution.
Also moving to four-year schools are Felipe Correa (St. Gregory), Joshua Vega (Ecclesia), Kenuel Dominguez (Olivet Nazarene), Ismael De Los Santos (MidAmerican Nazarene), Yaniel Vargas (Wayland Baptist) and Jairo Aparicio (Mid-America Christian University).
At 5-3 in league play, the Panthers are among the early front-runners in the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference. Morton College prepares for a pivotal three-game series against Waubonsee (April 14 and 15).
